More about Space Camp Patrick Baudry

The camp was the original idea of Patrick Baudry, the first French astronaut. Also known as Cité de l'Espace, it operated in Cannes Mandelieu between 1989 and 1993, and trained over 10 000 students of all ages. It remains the sole European initiative of this magnitude to date.

After the camp termination in 1993, the site was adjoined to the Centre spatial de Cannes Mandelieu, the satellite core of Aerospatiale. The 200 seats conference hall remained known as "Auditorium du Space Camp" and was host to a number of public satellite launch sessions and cultural events. Following the space center take over by Thales Alenia Space in 2007 and its subsequent re-location, the site was definitively closed to the public in 2011, after 18 years of emblematic activity.
